Sony has confirmed that it stops its Xperia Beta program which was launched earlier this year for official beta test their software Marshmallow. This means there will not be much beta firmware versions for the foreseeable future.

The Japanese firm has also confirmed that most Xperia Z2 / Z3 units began receiving a new version of commercial firmware in coming weeks, with those on a beta version being updated automatically.

The movement should not really come as a surprise since Sony acquired in April said the Xperia Beta program can continue until "at least the middle of" 2016.
